An exceptional antique 18k gold signet ring, hallmarked in Chester in 1895–1896. Deep, almost black bloodstone with subtle red flecking sits within a sculptural geometric setting of rich yellow gold.

Long associated with courage, strength and protection, bloodstone was a favourite of the Victorians.

At 6.1 grams, this piece has a beautifully substantial feel. Understated, quietly powerful and considerably cooler than most things made this century.
